Did i insert my tampon too far?

Hi guys I'm a little new with tampons, and ive used about 5 before but now I'm assuming I've inserted those wrong (not far enough in ) this morning my flow is kinda light but I decided to use a tampax light tampon, I shoved the fat part of the applicator where the tampon is kept a most all the way in my vagina. Is it up too far? I can't feel it or any pain or discomfort, when I put it in it hurt a little then stopped immediately. Thanks ladies :)
